What membership is
At Newsong LA, membership is a way to express your commitment to the church. That commitment includes an intention to:
  • Connect with the church by building relationships and getting involved in small groups, community groups, and/or learning groups.
  • Serve the community by getting involved in a ministry team or by participating in various volunteer and outreach opportunities.
  • Give to the church through your financial stewardship as you are able.
  • Support for the church’s vision and ministry, including its faith affirmations.
  • Participate in the governance of the church through congregational voting (ie.  budget approval, leadership team approval, calling of pastors, etc.)
What membership is not
At Newsong LA, membership is not:
  • A gateway to access to pastors, church resources, or other special privileges.
  • A club or a way to determine who is in or out.
  • Some twisted way to secure unquestioned allegiance or loyalty.
How do I become a member?
At Newsong LA, membership is open to those who:
  • have placed their faith in Jesus as Savior and Lord,
  • have been baptized according to the Scriptures
  • desire to live a Christian life by the power of the Holy Spirit, and
  • support the mission, ministries, and policies of the church.

As a potential member of the church, it is important to consider how you relate to the church’s Affirmations of Faith and the beliefs of our denomination (www.covchurch.org). You are asked to prayerfully consider if membership is the kind of commitment you wish to make.

To become a member, you must fill out a Membership Covenant and participate in a Membership Conversation with a Newsong LA pastor or other assigned leader.

Membership Covenant (About Me)

Sharing My Story
We would love to hear about your faith journey.  Every person’s story of faith is unique, just as it was for those in the bible.

  • Some of us are like Paul, who can remember a time before we followed Jesus. If that is you, please share what your life was like before you met Jesus and how you became a follower of Jesus. Then, please share about how God is blessing you now.
  • Some of us are like Timothy, who have been following Christ for as long as we can remember. If that is you, please share about your early life with Jesus, some season or time of challenge/struggle or when your faith became your own. Then, please share about how God is blessing you now.
  • Some of us are like Cornelius, who are still on a journey of deciding whether we want to become a committed follower of Jesus. If that is you, please share some of your spiritual background, whether religious or otherwise. Then describe why you are considering following Jesus and where you are currently in that journey.

Please share your story in detail as this helps us get to know you as you identify key moments in your faith journey.

Membership Covenant
(Making a Commitment)

We invite all members of the church to make a commitment to participate in the flourishing of our church and our community. We call it a "covenant" because it is like a relational promise to pursue these commitments to the best of our ability.
